Scoil na mBuachaillí is proud to support the Team Shoebox Appeal 2025, a nationwide initiative bringing Christmas joy to children in need. 

For the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal, the goal is to create a fun, useful, and age-appropriate gift for children who may not otherwise receive a Christmas present. Here’s a guide for what to include and avoid:

Items You Can Include

1. Toys & Games (non-violent, durable)

  • Small soft toys or stuffed animals

  • Dolls, action figures, cars, or trains

  • Puzzles, jigsaws, or small board games

  • Jump ropes, yo-yos, or balls

2. School Supplies

  • Notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers

  • Pencil cases, erasers, rulers

  • Stickers or coloring books

3. Toiletries / Hygiene Items

  • Toothbrush & toothpaste

  • Hairbrush, comb, or hair accessories

  • Soap, body wash, or small hand sanitizer
    (Avoid glass containers and strong scents)

4. Treats (non-perishable & individually wrapped)

  • Chocolates, sweets, or small snacks
    (Avoid nuts or items that could melt easily)

5. Extras to make it fun

  • Craft supplies: glue sticks, beads, or stamps

  • Hats, gloves, or socks

  • Small educational items like flashcards or mini books

Tips for Packing Your Shoebox

  • Use a strong shoebox or plastic box with a lid.

  • Wrap the box itself in festive paper (optional) but keep the lid separate or secured.

  • Label with child’s age and gender if possible.

  • Include a small note or greeting for a personal touch.

What NOT to Include

  • War-themed toys or weapons

  • Liquids, gels, or fragile items

  • Used or damaged items

  • Medicines or sharp objects
