Partnerships
At Scoil na mBuachaillí, partnerships play a key role in supporting our Active School Flag journey and in promoting physical activity, inclusion and wellbeing across our school community. We work closely with parents, pupils, staff and local organisations to ensure that Active School initiatives are inclusive, well supported and sustainable.
Parents and guardians are regularly informed about Active School activities through school communication channels and are encouraged to support initiatives both during and beyond the school day. Parent and pupil feedback is welcomed and used to inform ongoing Active School planning and practice.
Pupils take on a range of Active School leadership roles, including Playground Leaders, Playground Equipment Monitors, Event Organisers, Record Keepers and pupils responsible for class visits and intercom announcements. Through these roles, pupils help organise activities, support inclusive play, manage equipment and promote Active School initiatives within the school community. These leadership opportunities encourage responsibility, confidence, cooperation and active participation among pupils at all class levels.
Our school actively engages with external partners to strengthen provision and inclusion. We liaise with the Local Sports Partnership (LSP) and the Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) to support inclusive Physical Education and active opportunities for all pupils. We value strong links with local sports clubs and organisations, including Sciath na Scol, Clonakilty GAA, Clonakilty Rugby Club, Jog 4 All, Clonakilty Badminton Club, Clonakilty Basketball Club, Clonakilty Gymnastics Club and local soccer clubs, which help promote community involvement and lifelong participation in physical activity.
A particular strength in our partnership work is orienteering, an outdoor activity that combines physical activity with navigation and problem-solving. Through ongoing links with local and regional orienteering organisations and events, Scoil na mBuachaillí provides pupils with regular opportunities to participate in orienteering both within and beyond the school setting. Our school has a long-standing involvement in orienteering, with senior pupils representing the school at regional events, developing skills such as teamwork, resilience, map-reading and spatial awareness, while also experiencing success and enjoyment through participation in organised competitions.
Through strong partnerships and shared responsibility, Scoil na mBuachaillí continues to build a positive, inclusive and active school community.
