🎶 A Special Musical Moment: Song Launch Inspired by George Lowden 🎶
As part of this year’s Clonakilty International Guitar Festival, Scoil na mBuachaillí had the incredible honour of launching a brand-new, original song — inspired by world-renowned guitar maker George Lowden, who was present in the audience for the live performance.
This very special song was born from a moment of true generosity and recognition. In 2024, during last year’s festival, Mr. Lowden gifted a handcrafted guitar to our school after being deeply impressed by our pupils’ dedication to music. That gift became the spark for something extraordinary.
Under the guidance of the wonderfully talented Ms. Karen O’Regan — who has been a dedicated member of staff at Scoil na mBuachaillí for 18 years — the song took shape. Written and performed by our pupils and staff, it’s an uplifting anthem of hope, dreams, and togetherness, and a heartfelt tribute to the power of music in education.
The lyrics echo themes of gratitude and inspiration, celebrating the role that music — and those who champion it — play in shaping young minds and hearts.
Performing this song live for Mr. Lowden, at the very festival where the journey began, was a moment we will always treasure. It was a celebration not only of music, but of connection, creativity, and community.
We extend our deepest thanks to Mr. Lowden for his inspiration, his generosity, and for believing in the power of music in schools — and to everyone who made this project possible.
