Junior Infants & Rang 7 Visit Clonakilty Fire Station
As part of our Engineering Week activities, our Junior Infants and Rang 7 pupils enjoyed a very exciting trip to the new Clonakilty Fire Station — and we are so lucky to have it just a short walk from SNB!
During our visit, the children discovered how things are designed and built to solve real-life problems. They explored the fire engines up close and saw how every part — from the tall ladders and powerful hoses to the clever storage spaces and bright safety features — has an important job to do. It was a wonderful way to bring classroom learning to life and connect with Engineering Week’s focus on designing, making and problem-solving.
Our Junior Infants were amazed by the size of the fire engines and loved learning about the different tools firefighters use to help people. Rang 7 pupils also thought about how the engines and equipment are carefully planned and built, how strong materials are chosen, and how teamwork is just as important in engineering as it is in the fire service.
It was a fun, engaging and hands-on way to spark curiosity and to show how careful design and teamwork help keep our community safe.
A big thank you to the team at Clonakilty Fire Station for the warm welcome and for making our visit so enjoyable and informative.
