Junior Entrepreneur Project 2026

8th May 2026

Scoil na mBuachaillí is delighted to take part in the Junior Entrepreneur Project 2026.

The Junior Entrepreneur Programme gives primary school pupils the opportunity to experience practical, real-life business learning in a fun and engaging way. Over the course of the project, the children will develop important skills such as creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making and confidence.

With the guidance of their teacher and the inspiration of local entrepreneurs, pupils will work together to create their own product or service from scratch. They will learn how to choose an idea, plan their project, invest in materials, produce their product or service and prepare it for sale.

Today, the boys took part in the exciting “Meet the Dragons” stage of the programme. Working in groups, the pupils confidently presented their business ideas and pitches to our panel of Dragons: Caroline Murphy of West Cork Eggs, Ray Blackwell from DeBarras, and our very own Ms Regina Fitzmaurice.

The Dragons carefully listened to each presentation, asking thoughtful questions to test the ideas and encourage the pupils to think like real entrepreneurs. The groups received valuable feedback and advice on areas such as creativity, production, market potential, profitability and teamwork. The “Meet the Dragons” process is an important part of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme, helping pupils to develop presentation skills, confidence and critical thinking while learning how businesses evaluate ideas and make decisions.

The boys should be extremely proud of the effort, imagination and enthusiasm they showed throughout the presentations.

A special thank you to the 5th Class teachers, Ms Carol Ann O’Donovan and Mr Seán Daly, for their hard work, guidance and support throughout the project so far.
