Green Schools Day of Action – Working Towards Our 8th Green Flag

Our school recently held a highly successful Green Schools Day of Action as part of our application for our 8th Green Flag, with a focus on the theme of Global Citizenship – Marine Environment. This maintenance theme encourages pupils to recognise how local environmental actions can have a positive global impact, particularly in protecting our oceans and seas.

The day featured a wide range of marine-related activities from Junior Infants to 6th Class, including art, storytelling and interactive games. Pupils also participated in Day 2 of our Oceans of Discovery workshop, continuing their hands-on exploration of Ireland’s marine life, biodiversity, conservation and sustainability.

Staff and students marked the occasion by dressing in blue, creating a vibrant sea of colour throughout the school. Classroom competitions further reinforced key environmental messages while promoting creativity and teamwork.

We also took the opportunity to celebrate the excellent progress already made across our Green Schools themes: Litter & Waste, Energy, Water, Travel, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship.

A sincere congratulations to Ms Mac Auley for coordinating such a successful and engaging Day of Action. We are extremely proud of our pupils, staff and Green Schools Committee as we continue working towards achieving our 8th Green Flag.
