Faces of Clonakilty

24th Jun 2026

At SNB, we are committed to providing students with creative and innovative learning opportunities. This year, we invested in dedicated podcasting equipment and developed our own podcast room to encourage communication, collaboration, creativity, and digital storytelling.

A special acknowledgement is due to Ms O'Shea and Ms MacAuley, whose vision, commitment, and leadership were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. Through their careful planning and dedication, our students were provided with a unique opportunity to engage with members of the local community, develop valuable communication skills, and gain firsthand experience in podcast production and interviewing.

As part of the Faces of Clonakilty project, our student podcast team had the privilege of interviewing Noreen Minihan, Eileen and Bobby Blackwell, and Colette Twomey—three individuals whose lives and contributions have helped shape the story of Clonakilty.

Noreen shared memories of a lifetime spent in the town, reflecting on the people, friendships, and community spirit that make Clonakilty such a special place.

Eileen and Bobby spoke about the warmth, kindness, and strong sense of belonging that have long characterised Clonakilty and shared their experiences of community life over many years.

Colette provided students with an insight into her journey in business and how a local family recipe grew into one of Ireland’s most recognised food brands.

We are sincerely grateful to Noreen, Eileen, Bobby, and Colette for so generously giving their time and sharing their experiences with our students. Their stories brought Clonakilty’s rich heritage and community spirit to life and made this a truly memorable learning experience.

We are also extremely proud of our student podcast team, whose preparation, professionalism, and enthusiasm were evident throughout the project.
