Encouraging Lifelong Readers in 5th and 6th Class

10th Feb 2026

There was great enthusiasm in Scoil na mBuachaillí this week as pupils in 5th and 6th Class had the opportunity to explore a selection of new books provided through the Every Child A Reader initiative.

The pupils engaged thoughtfully with the wide range of reading material available, including both fiction and non-fiction texts covering a variety of themes and interests. It was encouraging to observe their interest as they selected books, discussed their choices with peers and participated attentively in shared reading activities.

These experiences support our ongoing commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive reading culture throughout the school. Access to high-quality reading materials plays an important role in developing pupils’ literacy skills, critical thinking and appreciation of reading as they progress through their primary education.

We look forward to seeing pupils in 5th and 6th Class continue to benefit from these resources throughout the year and to sharing further updates as the Every Child A Reader programme continues in Scoil na mBuachaillí.

📘📖 Fostering a lifelong appreciation of reading remains a key priority in our school.
