Curious Minds - Gold Award
We are delighted to announce that Scoil na mBuachaillí has achieved the Gold Award at the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Curious Minds Awards 2024/25. This recognition celebrates the school’s commitment to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education.
Awarded by Science Foundation Ireland, the Curious Minds programme encourages schools to engage learners in hands-on, inquiry-based STEM learning experiences. Achieving the Gold Award means our school has successfully demonstrated excellence in five key areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, and a STEM Showcase.
Our submission documented through a comprehensive Log of Evidence was highly praised by the SFI assessment panel. They highlighted the range and depth of STEM learning across all class levels and commented:
"Congratulations to Scoil na mBuachaillí on your amazing achievement! Your school has done a lot of valuable STEM work throughout the year. Well done to all the learners and teachers, you should be very proud of yourselves. We are amazed at all the work you have put into your school garden, from growing your own flowers, vegetables, beans and even making your own leaf composter! The video the learners made for your Global Classroom Project was fantastic and provided great information on this interesting initiative. The presentations and podcasts the learners worked on were brilliant. It is clear that they are very talented and knowledgeable on their chosen topics. It is great to see all the preparation that the learners put into their ESB Science Blast submission. Keep up all the amazing work future Scientists!"
