Cork City Sports 2025

29th May 2025

🏆 Huge Congratulations to our Athletics Team 🏆

We’re incredibly proud of each of the 17 boys who represented our school at the Cork City Sports in MTU today! 🇮🇪 Their effort, sportsmanship and team spirit was incredible.

We started the day with the straight races and every boy ran a super race.
Liam Ahern - 1st
Seán Kennedy - 3rd
Adam Kingston - 1st

Jacob Gallwey - 2nd

Séamus Quirke - 1st
Joseph O'Donovan - 2nd
Conor Moloney - 3rd

As Liam, Adam & Séamus came first 🥇in their races they qualified for their County Finals where they raced against the fastest of the fast in County Cork. The boys wre superb and Séamus sprinted home in the County Final in an incredible 2nd place!

Next up were the Under 11 and Over 11 relays. Both teams stormed home in 1st place in both relays.

Under 11 - Knox Harmon, Cameron Gallwey, Ewan Brooks Griffin & Adam Kingston
Over 11 - Cillian O'Mahony, Liam Ahern, Jack Daly & Filip Futuma

All of our athletes represented us so well and all of their results combined helped them win the Overall Prize in their group.

Thank you to Ms Horgan for organising our athletics team, entering them into the Cork City Sports and training them in recent weeks. Thanks also to Ms O'Boyle, Ms O'Shea, Ms O'Keeffe and Mrs Harte who were all out in MTU today supporting and helping our athletes! Thanks also to Mr Ciarán Crowley who was in MTU all day, acting as a steward on behalf of our school.

A successful day resulting in lots of fun, effort, 15 trophies, 2 shields and 1 cup.

Our Athletics Team are looking forward to their next event, Clonakilty Parish Sports on June 12th.
