3rd class Visit the Local Library: Inspiring a Lifelong Love of Reading
This week, our 3rd class pupils had the wonderful opportunity to visit Clonakilty Library, just a short walk from our school. We’re incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic resource right on our doorstep, and the visit was a great reminder of the value of our local library in supporting children’s learning and imagination.
During the visit, students explored a wide range of books, discovered new genres, and learned how to navigate the library system.
At school, we place great value on instilling a love of reading from an early age. Reading not only supports academic success across all subjects but also sparks imagination, builds empathy, and opens up new worlds. Encouraging children to use their local library helps make reading a natural, enjoyable part of everyday life.
We’re proud to partner with Clonakilty Library and hope this visit marks the beginning of many more for our pupils and their families. We encourage everyone to make the most of this incredible local resource—borrow a book, attend a story time, or simply enjoy the quiet joy of reading.
Let’s turn reading into a lifelong adventure!
