π This Is SNB. This Is Term 2. π
β¨π WHAT. A. TERM. πβ¨
π January – March 2026 at Scoil na mBuachaillí π
As we come to the end of Term 2, we reflect on what has been an exceptional start to 2026 — three months filled with learning, creativity, achievement, and a strong sense of community across our school.
π
A Busy and Active Term
School life has been vibrant and varied, with a wide range of activities taking place from January through to March. Pupils engaged in sporting events such as basketball, swimming, and chess, alongside school tours, trips, visiting speakers, matches and blitz days, local walks, and numerous in-class initiatives. Special days including Safer Internet Day, Random Acts of Kindness Day, and Seachtain na Gaeilge further enriched the pupils’ experience.
π A Flying Start to the Year
Teaching and learning across all curricular areas has been engaging and dynamic, both inside and outside the classroom. Pupils demonstrated creativity, curiosity, teamwork, and active participation in all aspects of school life.
We were also delighted to receive hundreds of new books through the Children’s Books Ireland initiative. This has significantly enhanced our literacy provision, and we are excited to be developing a new library area to further support a love of reading throughout the school.
π Wellbeing & Positive School Life
Wellbeing has remained a key focus, with programmes such as Roots of Empathy and various school initiatives promoting kindness, inclusion, and a positive learning environment.
π¨ Creativity & The Arts
Creative February provided wonderful opportunities for pupils to engage in artistic expression, particularly through the theme “Connect with Nature.” From visual art to creative projects, pupils’ talents were evident throughout the month.
πΆ Music & Performance
Music continues to play a central role in life at SNB. Pupils have the opportunity to develop their musical talents through a wide range of instruments including tin whistle, keyboard, guitar, drums, and brass. ()
During Seachtain na Gaeilge, music and performance brought the whole school together, with outstanding concerts and performances showcasing the talent and confidence of our pupils. ()
From school performances and Scoilavision to involvement in local festivals such as the Clonakilty Guitar Festival, our pupils are given wonderful opportunities to perform, collaborate, and shine in front of an audience π€πΆ ()
π± Green Schools & Sustainability
Our work towards achieving our 8th Green Flag continues, with pupils actively engaging in sustainability initiatives and developing a strong awareness of environmental responsibility.
π
Sporting Participation & Success
Pupils represented the school with great pride across a wide range of sporting activities including swimming, basketball, soccer, and GAA — both football and hurling.
We were particularly delighted with the excellent participation in recent GAA trials, with two boys progressing through to the final stages in both hurling and football, highlighting the strength and talent within our school.
We also celebrate the continued success of our soccer teams, who have shown fantastic teamwork, skill, and commitment — and we are especially proud to have reached the County FAI Soccer Finals πβ½
πΆ Culture & Community
March was a particularly special month, with Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations and a proud participation in the Clonakilty St. Patrick’s Day Parade, showcasing our school’s strong connection to music, language, and community.
π Giving Back
Our pupils demonstrated outstanding generosity during Bob-a-Job Week, raising €2154 for Daffodil Day and €915 for Stand 4 Féile — a testament to the kindness and community spirit within our school.
π Life at SNB
From outdoor learning and caring for our school chickens to daily classroom experiences and extracurricular opportunities, school life continues to be rich, inclusive, and engaging for all pupils.
π« A Term to Be Proud Of
This term has truly reflected the values of Scoil na mBuachaillí — enthusiasm, respect, collaboration, and a strong sense of belonging.
π We extend our sincere thanks to our pupils, staff, and families for making Term 2 such a success. We look forward with great anticipation to the remainder of the school year.
