There’s nothing quite like the buzz of amateur drama 🎭 — and we were delighted to see it celebrated in The Irish Times this week. We’re especially proud that this features our very own 2nd Class teacher, who only this evening prepared our pupils so beautifully for their First Confession ⛪️✨ From the classroom to the stage — Ms Laura Connolly is a wonderful example of talent, dedication, and community spirit. We’re very lucky to have her in SNB! 💙👏 Kilmeen Drama Group
A busy and brilliant day for Mr Crowley! 👏✨ After guiding his 2nd Class pupils through their First Confession this evening ⛪️🙏, he was straight out representing Clon GAA with the junior team ⚽️🔥 From classroom to pitch in one day — we’re incredibly proud of our 2nd Class teacher! 👨‍🏫💪 Well done, Mr Crowley! ❤️💚 I Love Clonakilty Clonakilty GAA Club Clonakilty Parish
🚒 Engineering Week in Action – Visit to Clonakilty Fire Station 🔧 As part of our Engineering Week activities, our pupils from Junior Infants & Rang 7 visited the new Clonakilty Fire Station recently to see engineering in action in the real world 🌍 — a super start to our Engineering Week activities! The visit gave the children the opportunity to explore how design and engineering help solve everyday problems 💡 They examined the fire engines up close and learned how each feature — from ladders and hoses to storage systems and safety equipment — is carefully designed with a specific purpose. They saw how planning 📝 strong materials 🧱 technology 💻 and teamwork 🤝 all come together to create vehicles and tools that help keep our community safe ❤️ It was an exciting, hands-on way to discover how things are built and how different parts work together 🛠️ The trip highlighted key elements of STEM learning — curiosity 🤔 creativity 🎨 collaboration 🤝 and critical thinking 🧠 — and showed how engineering plays an important role in everyday life. We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic facility just a short walk from SNB 👣 A sincere thank you to the team at Clonakilty Fire Station for sharing their expertise and inspiring our future engineers 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒✨ Cork County Fire Service Engineers Ireland

🙏This evening our fantastic 2nd Class pupils received the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Clonakilty Parish Church. It was a really lovely ceremony shared with our fellow parish schools – Knockskeagh National School, St. Joseph's Girls NS Clonakilty and Darrara National School. The children did themselves very proud on this special occasion. Well done to all the boys and girls, and thank you to all the teachers and families for all the preparation and support. We would also like to thank Fr. Fergus for leading the ceremony, and our 2nd Class teachers, Ms Laura Connolly and Mr Ciarán Crowley, for their wonderful guidance throughout. ☺️
🏁🔥 FULL THROTTLE AT SNB! 🔥🏁 What an incredible privilege it was to welcome West Cork rally star Michael Keohane to the SNB Podcast Studio! 🎙️🏎️ Fresh from the headlines of The Southern Star, Michael is powering towards the 2026 McLaren Trophy Europe Series, taking on legendary circuits like Monza, Spa and Silverstone 💨🌍 An Irish karting champion and seasoned international competitor, he shared the grit, focus and fearless determination it takes to compete at the highest level of motorsport. Our 6th Class boys were simply outstanding. From research and preparation to recording and production, they delivered a high-energy, professional interview using our in-house podcasting studio, sound desk and lighting boards 🎚️💡🎬 Their confidence, composure and sharp questioning would rival any broadcast team — a truly proud moment for SNB! 👏🔥 A sincere thank you to Ms. Mac Auley for driving this superb initiative and to Michael for inspiring our pupils with his ambition, resilience and racing mindset. 🌸 Creative February at Scoil na mBuachaillí! 🎨 This February, we proudly took part in the The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon’s Creative February 2026, joining schools across Cork and around the country to celebrate creativity. With the theme “Connect with Nature,” our pupils turned their attention to the cherry blossom tree on our doorstep 🌸👀 — observing its delicate petals, soft shades and changing form as spring began to unfold 🌷🌤️. Using these details as inspiration, they transformed what they saw into vibrant, carefully crafted artwork full of colour and life 🎨🖌️✨ This is just one example of the wonderful creativity shown throughout the month — more highlights can be seen on our school website. We are incredibly proud of the imagination and enthusiasm displayed by our pupils! 🌿✨ #CreativeFebruary #ScoilnamBuachaillí
♟️✨ Féile Fichille 2026 ✨♟️ Scoil na mBuachaillí was delighted to participate in this year’s Féile Fichille — a one-day, fun and friendly chess tournament organised by Ficheall, the voluntary network of primary teachers in Ireland 🇮🇪♟️ Féile Fichille is all about participation, teamwork and enjoyment, with the focus on giving pupils the experience of tournament play in a supportive and positive environment 🤝😊 The boys proudly represented the school in their colours and played six rounds of chess against other schools ♟️💙 For many, it was their first ever tournament, which made the day even more exciting! Our teams showed fantastic enthusiasm, concentration and sportsmanship throughout 👏 We are extremely proud of how they supported one another and embraced the spirit of the Féile 🌟 It was also lovely for our pupils to catch up with Mr Harrington on the day 😊 A huge well done to all the boys who took part 👏♟️ and sincere thanks to their mentors — Ms Niamh Mac Auley, Mr Ciarán Crowley and Ms Laura Connolly — for running the after-school chess club and preparing the teams so well 🙌 Thank you to Ms Mac Auley, Ms Fitzmaurice and Mr Crowley for accompanying the children to Barryroe 🚌 and to Barryroe national school for hosting such a wonderful and well-organised event 🌟 Maith sibh go léir! 👏♟️
🌍🌊 Green Schools Day of Action – Working Towards Our 8th Green Flag! 💙 Today we held a fantastic Green-Schools Day of Action as part of our application for our 8th Green Flag, focusing on Global Citizenship – Marine Environment. This maintenance theme reminds us that small local actions can make a global impact — especially when it comes to protecting our oceans and seas. 🌊 The day was packed with marine-related activities from Junior Infants right up to 6th Class, including art, storytelling and games, alongside Day 2 of our Oceans of Discovery workshop. Pupils continued their hands-on learning about Ireland’s marine life, biodiversity, conservation and sustainability. 🐠🎨📚 To mark the occasion, staff and students dressed in blue, creating a wonderful sea of colour throughout the school! 💙🐳 We also celebrated the fantastic work already completed in: ♻️ Litter & Waste 💡 Energy 💧 Water 🚶‍♀️ Travel 🌿 Biodiversity 🌎 Global Citizenship Classroom competitions added to the fun while reinforcing key environmental messages and encouraging teamwork. A massive congratulations to Ms Mac Auley for coordinating the entire Day of Action — an incredible achievement! 👏 We are so proud of our pupils, staff and Green Schools Committee as we continue working towards our 8th Green Flag. Together, we are making a difference — for our community and our planet. 🌍✨ #GreenSchools #GlobalCitizenship #MarineEnvironment #8thGreenFlag #Sustainability
