Cork City Sports 2026
π Huge Congratulations to Our Athletics Team πβοΈππ
We are incredibly proud of the 15 boys who proudly represented Scoil na mBuachaillí at the Cork City Sports event in MTU Cork today! Every single boy gave a fantastic performance and represented our school with tremendous effort, determination, sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the day. The boys should all be extremely proud of themselves for the way they competed, supported one another and gave their very best in every race. π
The day began with the straight races, where all of our athletes ran superbly:
π₯ Seán Kennedy – 3rd Place
π₯ Jacob Gallwey – 2nd Place
π₯ Tadhg McCarthy – 3rd Place
The relay races followed, with both teams delivering outstanding performances:
π
Under 11 Relay Team
Jacob Gallwey, Theo Antoine, Evan White & Jonathan Bednarz raced brilliantly together and came home in an incredible 1st place! π₯
π
Over 11 Relay Team
Aaron Nash, Seán Kennedy, Adam Kingston & Cillian O'Mahony put in a fantastic team performance to secure a wonderful 2nd place! π₯
Overall, it was a hugely successful and enjoyable day, filled with fun, effort, teamwork and excellent performances from all of our athletes — bringing home an amazing 11 trophies and 1 cup for our school! ππ
The video shared really captures what Scoil na mBuachaillí is all about — skill, determination, teamwork and boys supporting one another every step of the way. ππ
A very special thank you to Ms. Mary Horgan for all of her hard work organising the athletics team, entering the boys into the Cork City Sports and preparing them through training over the past number of weeks. Your dedication, encouragement and support are greatly appreciated. π
Thank you also to Ms. O’Shea, Ms. Breen O’Riordan and Mrs. Harte for supporting and encouraging our athletes throughout the day, and to Mr. Ciarán Crowley for acting as a steward on behalf of the school in MTU.
Well done again to all involved — we are so proud of each and every one of the boys! ππ
Our Athletics Team are already looking forward to their next event, the Clonakilty Parish Sports on June 11th. πβοΈπ
