Roots of Empathy
Roots of Empathy is an evidence-based programme that helps children develop empathy, emotional literacy, respect and positive relationships. The programme is delivered in classrooms throughout the school year by a trained instructor alongside a local parent and baby.
During each visit, pupils observe the interaction between the baby and parent and learn to recognise emotions, feelings and perspectives. Through guided discussion and activities, children develop important social and emotional skills such as kindness, inclusion, communication and understanding the feelings of others.
The programme supports the development of a positive and caring school environment and encourages pupils to build respectful relationships both in school and beyond. Roots of Empathy also promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience and conflict resolution skills among children.
We are delighted to support this valuable programme in Scoil na mBuachaillí and greatly appreciate the time and commitment of the families and instructors involved.
