Science Week 2025 @ SNB
This year, Science Week Ireland celebrates its 30th anniversary with the theme “Then. Today. Tomorrow.” Science Week is a nationwide celebration of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration in science, showing how it shapes our everyday lives.
At SNB, we’re proud to be taking part!
🍂 Hands-On Science in the Garden
On Monday, our Gardening Team took advantage of the dry weather to gather more leaves for our leaf composter.
Why a leaf composter matters:
-
Turns fallen leaves into nutrient-rich leaf mould
-
Improves soil health and retains moisture
-
Supports plant growth and biodiversity
-
Teaches students about sustainability and natural cycles
📦 STEM Boxes in Every Classroom
Our STEM Committee delivered science boxes to every classroom, giving students hands-on opportunities to explore experiments and activities throughout the week.
🌳 3rd Class: Climate Resilience Project
3rd Class is continuing the GLOBE Ireland “Climate Resilience – Temperatures and Trees Project”, a citizen-science initiative connecting temperature measurements with tree observations to teach students about climate resilience.
🕵️♂️ 5th Class: CSI Workshop
5th Class will visit Clonakilty Library on Wednesday for a CSI Workshop, learning real-life forensic science techniques to solve an imaginary crime.
Suggested image: Students examining “evidence” or doing forensic experiments.
💡 All Classes Engaging in STEM
Every class at SNB will be taking part in STEM activities this week!
