Prestigious Primary Science Fair Award for Scoil na mBuachaillí
Congratulations to Ms Kathryn O’Shea and her class, who were awarded the prestigious Primary Science Fair plaque at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin, on Thursday, January 8th.
Scoil na mBuachaillí was one of only 58 primary schools nationwide, and just 9 Cork primary schools, to reach the RDS this year — a remarkable achievement.
The boys presented their project, which began with the question, “Do chickens add to the wellbeing of our school?” Following extensive research and overwhelmingly positive findings, the project evolved into the title “Life Is Better with Chickens.”
As part of the project, the pupils carried out parent, pupil, and student surveys, analysed the results, and showcased their learning through PowerPoint presentations and videos. A huge amount of effort also went into preparing the exhibition display, including artwork, models of the chicken coop, and a variety of visual materials that highlighted the boys’ creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
This was a fantastic achievement and a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to represent Scoil na mBuachaillí at a national event.
A special thank you to Ms Kathryn O’Shea, who coordinated the project and worked tirelessly with the boys throughout the entire process.
We are extremely proud of the boys and commend them for their hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm throughout this project.
