Bridging the Years: Junior Infants and 6th Class Check-In

2nd Oct 2025
This week, a wonderful connection was made as our Junior Infant class met with the 6th Class for a friendly check-in.

The older pupils warmly welcomed the youngest members of Scoil na mBuachaillí, offering support and encouragement to help them feel settled and confident. As part of their visit, the 6th Class shared their latest editions of The Primary Planet and News Flash, giving the Junior Infants a glimpse into school news and events through the eyes of their older peers.

A key part of the meeting was the condition that every 6th Class pupil could name their Junior Infant buddy and share one interesting fact about them. This requirement encouraged genuine connections and showed real care and attention.

This buddy check-in is a wonderful example of Scoil na mBuachaillí’s commitment to the Amber Flag initiative, which focuses on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in schools. Through activities like this, the school fosters empathy, belonging, and supportive relationships between pupils of all ages. By building these strong connections, the school is creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone feels valued and supported.
The kindness and leadership shown by our older pupils are shining examples of the values promoted by the Amber Flag process. These moments of connection help to nurture resilience and wellbeing, contributing to a happier, healthier school community.

We look forward to many more opportunities for Junior Infants and 6th Class to learn, share, and grow together in this supportive environment.
