🌍 Climate Action Week 2025 at Scoil na mBuachaillí 🌱
Behavioural change and climate action are a fundamental part of our lives — 365 days of the year! But for one special week in October, we’re switching the focus from fundamental to fun!
This week, Scoil na mBuachaillí is proud to take part in Climate Action Week 2025, coordinated by An Taisce on behalf of the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment. Since 2017, schools across Ireland have come together during this week to celebrate action for our planet — and we’re delighted to be part of it once again.
Throughout the week, our pupils will be taking part in a range of activities designed to raise awareness, encourage sustainability, and make a real difference in our community.
🌿 Here’s what’s happening in Scoil na mBuachaillí:
-
🔋 Battery Recycling Drive – helping to reduce waste and protect the environment by collecting used batteries for recycling.
-
🌳 Tree Planting – we’ll be planting native Irish trees, including Scots Pine, to support biodiversity and create a greener school environment.
-
🌡️ GLOBE Ireland Citizen Science Projects – classes will take part in projects such as Climate Resilience (Temperature and Trees) and the Air Quality Project, learning how science helps us understand and protect our planet.
-
♻️ Green Schools Committee Focus – a reminder for everyone to keep up great habits with recycling and proper bin use around the school.
- 🚴♂️ Cycle to School – the weather is looking good, so it’s the perfect week to hop on your bike and make use of our fabulous bike shed while reducing your carbon footprint!
Climate Action Week is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to celebrate the positive steps we can all take — big and small — to care for our planet every day.
Let’s keep making change happen — not just this week, but all year round! 💚🌎
