Hard to believe it has already been a full year since Gloria, Rita and Betty joined Scoil na mBuachaillí! 🐔🎉 Over the past year, our hens have become a much-loved part of school life, bringing so much joy, excitement and learning opportunities to our pupils every day. From collecting eggs and caring for the hens to baking, biodiversity projects and even our Young Scientist research, the project has created wonderful hands-on experiences for the boys. 🥚🌱💚 The hens have helped teach responsibility, teamwork, sustainability and wellbeing, while becoming very special members of our school family along the way. A huge thank you to Ms O’Shea, Finbarr and Noreen for all their care and dedication to the project throughout the year. Thank you also to our pupils, staff, families and wider community for their continued support — especially Grandad David, who kindly minds the hens during the Easter and summer holidays! Here’s to another fantastic year because life really is better with chickens! 🐓

🚴‍♂️ Bike Week 2026 🚴‍♀️ Our junior classes had great fun taking part in a bike workshop on Wednesday, 20th May as part of Bike Week 2026! 🌟 Thanks to funding from Cork Sports Partnership, the children had the opportunity to develop their cycling skills, build confidence, and most importantly, begin creating healthy and active habits from a young age. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, energy, and enjoyment throughout the sessions. A sincere thank you to Cork Sports Partnership for supporting this initiative, to Ulick for delivering such engaging sessions, and to Mr Seán Daly for organising the event for our pupils. 👏 #BikeWeek2026 #ActiveSchools #HealthyHabits #Cycling #CorkSportsPartnership
🐝 Bee-ing Kind During Biodiversity Week! 🌼 Our 3rd class wildlife enthusiasts sprang into action this week after spotting a tired little bee in the yard. Armed with a homemade sugar solution and plenty of concern, the children did their very best to give their tiny visitor a helping hand! 💛 The excitement, care, and curiosity shown by the pupils perfectly captures the spirit of Biodiversity Week and the appreciation for nature that we love to see in our school. Sometimes the smallest creatures can create the biggest buzz! 🐝✨ #BiodiversityWeek #BeeKind #ProtectPollinators #CuriousMinds #LoveNature
Our 2nd Class pupils had a fantastic day on their school tour to Smuggler’s Cove in Rosscarbery! 🌟 There was plenty of excitement throughout the day as the children enjoyed the giant inflatable slides, obstacle courses, summer tubing park, and playground activities. From climbing frames and monkey bars to tubing races and bouncing fun, there was something for everyone to enjoy! 🛝🎢 Even with the misty weather, spirits were high and the children made the most of every moment together. It was wonderful to see so much laughter, teamwork, and friendship throughout the day. 😊 A huge well done to all the pupils for their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm — they represented our school brilliantly! Thank you also to the staff and the team at Smuggler’s Cove for making the day so memorable.
🤸‍♂️✨ Our pupils are absolutely loving their gymnastics classes with Aoife! ✨🤸‍♀️ Each session is filled with fun, movement, encouragement and excitement as the children develop their balance, coordination, strength and confidence through a wide variety of activities and challenges. We are incredibly lucky to have such fantastic facilities in our school, providing our pupils with a wonderful space to stay active, learn new skills and enjoy movement in a safe and supportive environment. 💙 Aoife’s positivity, patience and expertise shine through in every class. Most importantly, she creates an inclusive atmosphere where every pupil feels encouraged to participate, be brave, try something new and believe in themselves. 👏 It has been fantastic to watch our pupils grow in confidence, resilience and teamwork throughout these sessions. Thank you, Aoife, for making gymnastics such a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone! 🌟 #Gymnastics #ActiveSchools #Confidence #Inclusion #Bravery #Teamwork #LearningThroughMovement
🧠🎵 SNB 4th class presents their brilliant STEM project in UL! 🎵🧠 What a fantastic day for Ms Hayes’s 4th Class at Science Blast in the University of Limerick! 👏🔬 The boys proudly presented their excellent project: 🎶 “Does Music Help Our Brain Power?” 🎶 This clever investigation beautifully combined SNB’s wonderful musical tradition with STEM learning, exploring how music affects memory, concentration, literacy and maths. 🎼💡 The project was hugely admired throughout the exhibition and the judge was incredibly impressed with the boys’ scientific thinking, teamwork and presentation skills. The boys explained their project brilliantly and were a real credit to our school! ⭐👏 The class also loved exploring the interactive STEM exhibits and activities throughout the day 🚀 — and to make an already amazing day even better, they received a plaque recognising their fantastic work before enjoying some very well-earned ice cream on the journey home! 🍦🏅 A huge thank you to Ms Hayes for all her hard work and dedication. We are so proud of everyone involved! 💙 #ScienceBlast #STEM #FutureScientists #ScoilnamBuachailli #UL
