📚✨ Wonderful News for Our School Community! ✨📚 We are thrilled to announce that our school has been selected to take part in *Children’s Books Ireland’s Every Child A Reader project! 🎉 As part of this exciting programme, our school will receive a brand-new library of 250 high-quality, diverse books, along with posters, bookmarks, bunting and lots of fun reading activities to help build a strong, joyful reading culture throughout the school. We are also delighted to share that author E.R. Murray will be joining us as our Champion of Reading! Over a series of workshops, she will inspire creativity, confidence and a love of books among our pupils. 🌈📖 This project helps ensure that every child can see themselves reflected in stories, while also opening windows to different cultures, worlds and perspectives. It supports teachers, engages families, and brings reading to life in exciting new ways. A very special thank you to Ms. Carol O’Boyle, whose successful application to the Children’s Books Ireland Book-Gifting programmes has made this incredible opportunity possible. Through her work, we have also received a Free To Be Me Little Library containing 190 beautifully curated books celebrating identity, inclusion and empathy. 💛🌟 We can’t wait to launch our new library, welcome E.R. Murray to our school, and begin this fantastic reading journey together. Stay tuned for updates! 📚✨ Clonakilty Notice Board I Love Clonakilty Cork County Council Library & Arts Service
🎄✨ Congratulations to Matthew O’Regan! ✨🎄 The Southern Star recently invited West Cork school children to write short essays on the festive theme of Santa relocating to West Cork. We are delighted to share that Matthew O’Regan, a 5th Class pupil, has had his wonderful story published in this week’s Christmas in West Cork supplement in the Southern Star. This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud of Matthew for his creativity and hard work. 👏📝 A big well done also to his class teacher, Mr Seán Daly, for supporting and encouraging his budding writer! Thank You to West Cork Education Centre for coordinating with the schools. ✨ Well done, Matthew! ✨
🎉🎉 Exciting News! 🎉🎉 Our Project Has Been Accepted to the Primary Science Fair at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 🚀📚✨ We are delighted to announce that our class project, “Do chickens add to the wellbeing of our school?”, has been officially accepted to the Primary Science Fair, part of the prestigious Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin. 🏛️🌟 This is an exciting achievement for our school, and we are incredibly proud of Ms Kathryn O'Shea and the students for their curiosity, teamwork and dedication. 👏🐣💡 Our students have been investigating how caring for school chickens can support wellbeing, responsibility, and connection to nature — and now they’ll be sharing their work on a national stage. 🐔🌿🌈 We’re so proud of the creativity, teamwork and scientific curiosity shown throughout this project. 🌱💛 This Month’s Activity: Junior Infants & 6th Class Planting! Building on the connections from our recent buddy check-ins, this week our Junior Infants and 6th Class came together for a planting activity 🌿🤝. The older pupils visited the Junior Infants’ classroom to work together on their planting projects 🌱🤝. They collaborated with their younger buddies planting and creating something they can nurture and enjoy for weeks to come 🌸✨. This activity is a wonderful continuation of our Amber Flag initiative, promoting positive mental health, empathy, and supportive relationships across the school 🌈💪. We’re so proud of our pupils for showing kindness, leadership, and teamwork and we look forward to many more shared experiences! 🌞🌱 #JuniorInfants #6thClass #BuddyProgram #PlantingTogether #AmberFlag #PositiveMentalHealth #EmpathyInAction #SchoolCommunity #LearningTogether #Kindness #SupportiveSchool #SchoolLife #OutdoorLearning
